Padmasambhava Statue, Mount Wutai
At Mount Wutai, we brought material knowledge and careful handwork to localised work on the Padmasambhava statue.
Our practice
Working around the Padmasambhava statue at Mount Wutai, we brought our knowledge of materials and handwork into a specific site setting. The team studied working positions, approached the surfaces closely and carried out localised work. Each operation required attention to the object, its materials and the surrounding conditions.

Work on surfaces and metal components
Understanding the site
We considered the statue, working positions and surrounding space together. Site conditions influence access and the arrangement of work; wider photographs preserve that context.
Working close to the surface
We worked close to the surfaces, paying attention to the condition of the materials. Position and approach had to respond to the site, keeping localised work connected with the complete object.
Teamwork around the metal components
We applied our metalworking experience to the relevant components on site. Work in different positions called for coordination within the team. The photographs retain a practical record that we can return to and discuss.
