Creating Together, Connecting with the World

Rooted in Tongling’s bronze-making traditions, we welcome ideas and perspectives from around the world. Helping to organise and host the China (Tongling) International Copper Sculpture Exhibitions in 2010 and 2012 brought us together with artists from many countries, working side by side to turn models into public sculptures and learning from one another along the way. In 2012, Tongling also welcomed symposium organisers for the inaugural meeting of the International Sculpture Symposium Alliance (ISSA). Zheng Dongping and Liu Yang helped establish the alliance, with Xinjiuding supporting its early development; Zheng serves as Deputy Secretary-General. From exploring art and fabrication with visitors from Wētā Workshop to sharing our knowledge of Chinese bronze casting with a BBC film crew, these encounters have encouraged us to look afresh at the relationship between traditional craft and contemporary sculpture. Today, our designers, engineers and craftspeople bring that same curiosity, respect and practical commitment to each collaboration. We look forward to hearing your ideas and exploring how we can bring them to life together.
