Metal Forming for Sculptural and Architectural Work.

For sculpture, relief, architectural metalwork, and large hollow forms, we shape and assemble metal directly through hammer forming, repoussé, chasing, cutting, bending, welding, sectional fabrication, and the forging of selected components where required.

Building Form Directly from Metal.

WHAT IT IS

Unlike casting, this production route develops the artwork directly from metal stock and fabricated components. Sheet and plate metal may be cut, rolled, bent, hammer-formed, chased, welded, and assembled, while selected bars or solid components may also be forged where required. Relief and decorative surfaces can be developed through repoussé and chasing before the individual sections are integrated into the complete form.

BEST SUITED FOR

Large hollow sculptures, hammered relief panels, architectural bronze and copper elements, decorative metalwork, one-off formed components, lightweight sculptural skins, and works better suited to fabrication from shaped and assembled sections than to casting as a single piece.

HOW WE SUPPORT THE WORK

From Full-Scale Layout to Formed and Assembled Metal.

We coordinate drawings, templates, forming methods, joining points, internal support, working access, and later surface treatment so that individually shaped sections come together as one coherent artwork.

Full-Scale Layout and Section Planning

Drawings and templates are transferred onto the working material, with sections planned according to the artwork’s geometry, forming direction, structural requirements, handling, welding access, and final assembly.

Hammer Forming, Repoussé, Chasing, and Selective Forging

Sheet and plate metal are shaped through controlled hammer forming according to the required form. For relief work, repoussé develops volume from the reverse, while chasing refines contours, transitions, textures, and details from the front. Selected bars and solid components may also be forged where required by the design.

Welding, Assembly, and Surface Integration

Formed sections are positioned, welded, reinforced, ground, and refined during assembly. Joints and production seams are then integrated into the artwork’s overall form, relief, and surface character.
